Healthy Options has opened a new centre for its renowed Yoga and Pilates holidays. The centre is located in the mainland fishing village of Syvota. Like the original location of Healthy Options in Vassiliki (Lefkas), this is an unspoiled and laid-back fishing town in an area of outstanding natural beauty. With a traditional natural harbour and with gorgeous beaches and rocky coves stretching either side, Syvota is a perfect location for your relaxing and healthy holiday.
Syvota is 90km to the north of Prevesa airport – it takes about 75 minutes to reach our lovely hotel.
Our hotel, the three star Mega Ammos, is set within lavish gardens and is uniquely positioned right next to the beach of Mega Ammos and its 3 fish restaurants and tavernas, reached by a pretty stone caved path connecting the beach directly to the hotel.
The hotel rooms are of a slightly higher standard than in Vassiliki, all recently renovated, and with a swimming pool, fitness room, restaurant and, of course, air conditioning in all the en-suite rooms. Unlike Vassiliki breakfasts at the hotel are included in the price.
The village is a ten to fifteen minute walk away from the hotel, though a small ‘trenaki’ runs each day from the village along the road connecting the hotel and a series of pretty beaches.
Syvota holidays offer the chance to experience local traditions and a relaxed pace of life, with friendly locals famous for their hospitality.
As well as at least two styles of Yoga class, you’re free to join in any of our other classes including Pilates, Swiss Ball, Body Sculpt, Hydro-Fit and Aqua-aerobics held in our purpose built marquee or pool.
All of our instructors are friendly, professional and approachable and committed to you getting the most out of your holiday with us. We’ve chosen our staff for our Syvota centre very carefully from instructors that have taught in Vassiliki before so we are certain that we can offer you the same high standards at both locations.
Here you’ll also be invited to join in many activities, such as our guided bike rides along the rugged coastline, and, as in Vassiliki, we’ve organised a great walk along to one of the nearby beaches, where, after a chance to go swimming we’ll take you by boat around the inshore islands, stopping on the way at deserted beaches for more swimming, lazing in the sun and snorkelling.
In the middle of the week you’ll also have the chance to explore a little further afield. Leaving after breakfast we’ll drive 45 minutes or so to the famous Acheron gorge and springs, where myth has it, Achilles was bathed by his mother and gained his superhero powers.
There’s time here to walk through the forest a short way to the springs, and then, for those not undaunted by the water temperature (a cool 9 degrees even in the height of summer) to walk in the middle of the river right up into the spectacular gorge. Sometimes the water is only ankle deep; sometimes you’ll be wading waist deep. (wetsuit trousers supplied if wanted!)
Out of the gorge you’ll also get a chance to try something new – rafting down the river. Led by an experienced guide you’ll ride downstream on a rigid inflatable boat for about 15 minutes before returning upstream in our minibus. For anyone who wants even more of this really ‘back to nature’ experience you can then choose to ride the river again on a kayak - this time without an instructor.
Back at the Mega Ammos beach, we’ve a selection of Paddle boards that, once we’ve shown you the basics, you’ll be able to take out whenever you like – improving your fitness levels as well as giving you a somewhat different perspective on beach life.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Healthy Options holiday of we didn’t include a free ½ hour massage in your holiday to help you relax still further!
